ISAYiT! Summer Camp – July 2018

Irish Stammering Association will be hosting its ISAYiT! Summer Camp for young people from 9 -13th July in Dublin. The camp offers young people an opportunity to meet other people who stammer in a safe, fun environment. ISAYiT! is open to young people who stammer between the ages of 8 and 17 years; they can express themselves creatively among a group of their peers in an environment where they will not be judged by how they speak.

All camps are supervised by experienced staff in collaboration with the Gaiety School of Acting.

Cost is €100 for week. Financial assistance with fee is available.

April Skype Group For Teenagers

ISA runs a Skype group for teenagers who stutter.  The group is facilitated by Callum Wells, a speech and language therapist who also stutters. Teenagers who stutter can join the call from all over Ireland.

It’s a friendly and informal atmosphere; you can talk as much or as little as you want. People share ideas of what helps them and it’s a supportive environment to make new friends.

Our next call takes place on Tuesday April 14th at 7.15 p.m.

We’re Going to the ZOO

young-isa-zooYoungI SA are going to the zoo! (you can come too). We’re going on a trip to Dublin Zoo on Saturday January 10th.

We’ll be getting a special tour where we go behind the scenes with the zookeepers. We’ll getting close up with some of the animals – but not too close!

The zoo has over 400 animals and is one of the world’s oldest and popular zoos. We’ll be learning about wild animals and those which are endangered.

ISA on the road – Portlaoise and Letterkenny

ISA on the road – Portlaoise and Letterkenny 

ISA will be running two open day events during the month of November.  We’ll be visiting Portlaoise on Saturday November 16th, and we’ll be in Letterkenny on Saturday November 23rd.  The days will feature talks from people who stutter, speech and language therapists as well as offering a chance for adults who stutter to take part in one of our support groups.  For families, we’ll be running a youngISA event on the day while parents can take part in our Parents’ Support Network.

The venue for the Portlaoise open day will be the Maldron Hotel, and Letterkenny will be the Radisson Blu hotel.

Following the success of ISA’s drama group ISAYiT! and our youngISA social events, we’ll be running a monthly online support group for young people who stutter.  Anyone who is aged 12 – 18 can take part in the groups for free.  The groups are designed to offer young people who stutter from all over Ireland the opportunity to talk with others and share experiences.  The groups will be facilitated by speech and language therapists and, while having a structure and format, will be flexible and hopefully… fun!

You’ll need to have a good internet connection and Skype installed on your computer to take part.

The groups will be running on November 19th and December 10th
