Dublin Support Group

September 12 @ 7:15 pm - 9:15 pm

The Dublin Support Group will have a special meeting in September on 12th September. Our guest for the evening will be Dr. David Shapiro.

David is the Robert Lee Madison Distinguished Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Western Carolina University (North Carolina, USA). He is a speech-language pathologist and a person who stutters. He is a past president of the International Fluency Association and the author of Stuttering Intervention: A Collaborative Journey to Fluency Freedom (2nd ed., 2011, PRO-ED).

David will share his story informally and is interested in hearing ours, so there should be a good discussion that evening. You may want to take a look at a few of his writings to become familiar with him as a person and as a professional:

I walk the line: Being a person who stutters and a speech-language pathologist (2015):

Stories of people who stutter: Beacons of hope, portraits of success (2011):

Being real (2007):

As always, everyone over eighteen is welcome to attend the Dublin Support Group, and you can you can let us know you are going to be there by contacting the ISA Office or emailing; this will help us get an idea of numbers. However, you can just turn up on the night too. The venue as usual will be Carmichael House.
