To celebrate International Stuttering Awareness Day, Irish Stammering Association are holding a week-long series of events from Sunday, 15th of October to Sunday, 22nd of October.
This year we’re inviting you to ‘Go With The Flow’. We often hear messages around overcoming stammering, fixing it and non-acceptance. We’re suggesting that sometimes it’s more than ok to stammer – we invite you to ‘Go With The Flow’.
For many people, stuttering is quite variable – some weeks you stutter more, some weeks you stutter less. This particular week we’re offering all people who stammer and their allies a series of events to cater to all ages.
An Autumn Walk and Talk starts offer week in Dublin on Sunday October 15th. We have curated talks and workshops on different days as well as a special international gaming club (for the younger people who stammer!) and support groups and one off talks for families, teens, and adults. We're excited to welcome back Daniele Rossi and Franky Banky for a cartooning workshop with a specially designed comic booklet that each participant will receive, to draw in their own characters and finish the comic story!
Our main in person event takes place on Saturday 21st October in the Hilton Kilmainham Hotel in Dublin. Ireland’s foremost stammering comedian Aidan Greene will join us fresh from his Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as Nora Trench-Bowles will reflecton her journey with Stammering Pride – Bród Stadaireachta.
We will also have special events for young people who stammer including the return of Charlie Hughes and our ISAYiT! drama workshop. Our Parents’ Support Group will have a special lunchtime meet up with parents and caregivers welcome to join.
